The main reason I collected many of my favorite, clean recipes into one book, entitled Clean and Simple: Healthy Recipes for Your Busy Life is because of you. You tell me all the time how you'd like to eat better (cleaner, healthier, more consciously), but you just don't have the time. I disagree and offer this book as proof. Moreover, right now is a good time to get a few things straight about how I feel about your weight, what you eat and how you take care of yourself:

First of all, let’s agree you are not your weight. While the number on the scale is a cultural obsession, its meaning is largely subjective. Your fasting blood sugar, your blood pressure and your triglyceride readings all are more indicative of your health.

Second, the manner in which you nourish yourself is a reflection of how much you value your health. Consider, if you are spending the few minutes it can take to prepare one of the healthy recipes in Clean and Simple rather than ordering a pizza or getting fries with that, it says good health is important to you. On the other hand, a cabinet full of prepackaged, “convenience” foods reveals you haven’t given your well being much thought.

Finally, while our preferred tastes can and do change, we tend to eat the same foods over and over. Why not make those habitual choices healthy?
